Meadowsweet health benefits (Filipendula ulmaria - Fam. Rosaceae)

Popular names: Queen of the Meadow, Pride of the Meadow, Meadow-Wort, Meadow Queen, Lady of the Meadow, Dollof, Meadsweet and Bridewort.

Chemical composition of Meadowsweet

Volatile oil, flavonoids, spireine, hiperine, salicylic aldehyde, spireoside, vanillin, heliotropine, waxes, tannins, mineral substances.

Pharmaceutical action

Due to the spireine, whose aglycones are by-products of the salicylic acid, the product has an anti-rheumatic action, and the flavonoids are responsible for its diuretic, antiseptic, germicidal, anti-inflammatory, healing, diuretic, astringent, diaphoretic, tonic, sedative action.

Preparation and administration:

- place 2 teaspoons of ground plant in 250 m boiling water. Cover for 15 minutes then filter. You can drink up to 2-3 cups a day even in long treatments, with no side effects.
- place 3 teaspoons of ground plant in 250 ml water. Then boil for 15 minutes. Filter. You can drink up to 2-3 cups a day.
- place a teaspoon of powdered plant - obtained with a coffee grinder � under your tongue. Keep for 10 minutes then swallow with some water.

Tincture - place 50 g ground plant in 250 ml alimentary alcohol 70C. Cover the recipient well. Keep in a warm place or at room temperature for 15 days. Filter. Take 1 teaspoon, slightly diluted in water, 3 times a day.

It can be used for the following medical conditions: hair loss (hair wash or rubbings with infusion or tincture), tonsillitis (internally - infusion; externally - decoct), burns- decoct, arthritis (infusions and tinctures - internally and externally - apply compresses with decoct).

Ascites - infusion 3-4 cups a day.

Gastro-intestinal disease - infusion or powder.

Bronchitis - tincture.

Cellulite - decoct or tincture rubbings.

Abundant menses - internally infusions and baths with decoct 2 times a day.

Renal congestion - infusion or directly apply a compress on the renal area.

Diarrhea - infusion or powder.

Hepatic disorders - infusion or powder.

Muscular pain- rubbings or compresses with decoct.

Inflammation of the bowels - tincture or infusion.

Edema - infusion or powder. Externally, place a compress with decoct. Skin infections, coetaneous eruptions - decoct.

Fever - infusion.

Flu - infusion or tincture.

Gout - internally - infusion or powder and externally place compresses with decoct.

Hemorrhoids - local compresses with decoct.

Herpes - internally, infusion or tincture and externally place compresses several times a day. Apply them warm.

High blood pressure - infusion.

Insomnia - tincture in the evenings or infusion.

Liver failure - infusion or powder.

Intoxication- infusion or powder.

Vaginal irritations - baths with decoct.

Leucorrhea- baths with decoct and internally tincture.

Menopause - it especially helps in calming the hot flashes.

Fatigue, nervousness - tincture.

Wounds - powder or decoct.
