Benefits of Clubmoss plant

Clubmoss, commonly known as ground pine, is a plant used in treating and lessening various diseases of the body.

Description of Clubmoss plant

Clubmoss is a procumbent, evergreen plant, which has a similar appearance to moss and can be found in beech and fir forests to an altitude of over 600 m. The plant's stems are procumbent, growing up to 1-2 meters in length with small, fine and thin roots. From the stalks, smaller stems of lengths of around 7-10 cm grow, they are small, ramified and have bushy leafs. These smaller stems generally end with 2 ears. The leaves are linear, small and persistent, having long, whitish hairs on top. The harvest is made in July and August, on sunny weather, after the dew has lifted.

Properties and benefits of Clubmoss

The plant contains radium, triterpanes, alkaloids and mineral substances which give it diuretic, anti-alcoholic, anti-tobacco, anti-cirrhotic, and purgative properties.

Treatments

Clubmoss is recommended to those suffering from rheumatism and arthritis even in cases when the diseases present malformations of the articulations. Clubmoss tea is recommended in treating chronic constipation, and for hemorrhoids. This is also used for lessening diseases of the urinary system and the genital organs. Clubmoss tea prevents the formation of kidney stones and renal colics.

In hepatitis and tumors of the conjunctive tissue of the liver, clubmosss are indispensable. Hepatic cirrhosis or liver cancer can also be treated with the help of clubmoss tea. Because it contains radium, clubmosss are used for calming muscle cramps. For this purpose, a pillow can be stuffed with this plant.

The plant can also be used sometimes as a diuretic, and clubmoss spores are used for skin irritations. If 4 to 5 drops of tincture are added into the water meant for washing hair, the hair is strengthened, and is less friable.

clubmoss    Clubmoss tincture is also used in alcohol detoxification, or to discourage from smoking. For this the treatment can last between a week and 3 months. The tincture can also be used against the pains caused by muscle spasms and hypertension. Compresses are applied on the back and kept there for a few hours during the night.

Mixtures

Clubmoss tea is prepared from one teaspoon of clubmoss added to half a liter of boiled water. It is left like that for a short time. A cup per day is consumed slowly in the morning, on an empty stomach half an hour before breakfast.

Clubmoss decoct is obtained from the mixture of equal amounts of clubmoss, pansies, dandelion, birch, parsley, hip and bean pods. A quantity of 200 ml of the mixture is consumed 3 to 4 times per day, between meals, sweetened with honey.

The clubmoss pillow is made like so: a small pillow case is taken, filled with 2 handfuls of fresh clubmoss, and applied on wounds.

Hip baths are prepared the following way: in a bowl of 4 to 5 liters of hot water, 4 handfuls of clubmoss are added, it is left to macerate, then heated and added to bath water.

Warning

It is recommended that people suffering from diarrhea use clubmoss tea cautiously so that it does not cause intestinal spasms.
