Menstrual pain, treated through fitotherapeutic ways

Most women are confronted, occasionally, with menstrual pain, more or less intense. For some of these, the condition can be so severe that it affects their activity. Here are some solutions to fight dysmenorrhea.

Dysmenorrhea has, as a main symptom, pain localized in the inferior area of the abdomen or in lumbar area, that appears in the first day of menstruation or several day before it. The pain can many times be accompanied by other symptoms (irritability, migraines, asthenia). In some cases, dysmenorrhea can be severe, the pain being accompanied by a pale face, cold extremities, even nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, chephalalgia, palpitations, muscular and joint pain, depression, insomnia.

Types of dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea can be:

1. Primary - determined by normal uterine contractions, just that more powerful and more frequently, hormonally controlled, occurring due to the lack of pathological changes, possibly due to the first menstruation. This can be caused by the rise in prostaglandins and hypoxia (the faulty oxygenation of uterine muscles).

2. Secondary - it appears as a consequence of some uterus conditions (fibroid, congenital anomalies) or conditions of the fallopian tubes, due to endocrine disorders, ovarian disorders, pelvic infections, intrauterine contraceptive devices, as well as some mental factors.

If you suffer from dysmenorrhea it is recommended to avoid exaggerated physical activity and standing for longer periods of time.

Dietotherapy

If you suffer from menstrual disorders you must avoid tea, coffee, spices and alcoholic beverages. In order to ease the symptoms, the following vegetable juices are recommended: carrots (300 g), spinach (100 g), parsley (50 g), beetroot (100 g), cucumber (100 g), celery (50 g). These can be drunk plain or in associations: carrot, beetroot and spinach (or radishes); carrots and apples; carrots, celery and spinach. An alternative is the diet with germinated wheat: 3-6 tablespoons a day, for 3-12 months. The medical treatment is represented by analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and complexes with calcium, magnesium and vitamins.

Hormonal disorders that appear 2-3 days before the period, caused by the premenstrual syndrome (with ovarian and breast pain, irritability), accompanied by irregular periods, can be fought with raspberry leaves, very rich in phytohormones. The treatment is done using dried leaves powder (a teaspoon 3-4 times a day, sublingual, then swallow it) or an infusion, in 3-4 weeks diets, with a 7-day break. You can also use gemotherapy, with an extract of raspberry sprouts, in amounts of 1-2 ml (diluted in water) in the morning and in the evening, a week before and during the menstruation.
