Natural recipes for treating varicosities

The varicosities are dilatations of superficial veins, found usually on inferior limbs, on calves and thighs. The apparition of varicosities depend on genetic, social (job) factors and also on the ageing process.

Here are some natural ways for treating this disorder:

Hazel

An extract of liquid from 10 g dried and shredded leaves, over which 90 degrees alcohol is poured, in an amount enough to cover them completely. The leaves are inserted in a bottle then the alcohol is poured; cover with a cork and leave to macerate for ten days, and once in a while shake the bottle to homogenize the mixture. Filter and keep in a dark colored bottle, covered with a cork. The treatment consists of consuming 60-80 drops a day (20-26 drops each in the morning, at lunch and in the evening).

Wild chestnut

A decoct from 5 g bark powder in 100 ml water. Bring to a boil, let it cool and then filter; consume 15-20 drops daily for 20 days a month, pause for 10 days then restart the treatment..

A tincture from 50 g bark powder or the outer part of seeds in 150 ml 90 degrees alcohol; leave for 10 days to macerate, shaking the bottle daily to homogenize the concentration; filter in a dark colored bottle, cover with a cork; consume 10 drops daily.

An ointment from 20 g alcoholic extract from seeds; mix with 60 g wool fat and apply on troubled areas.

Figwort

An infusion from 2 teaspoons of dried and shredded plant over with a cup (200 ml) of boiled water is poured; cover for 10-15 minutes, then filter. Put compresses on the troubled area.

An ointment from 5 g plant extract and 50 g populeum ointment; mix until it is homogenized and then anoint the troubled parts.

Cranesbill

A decoct from two teaspoons of finely chopped plant for a cup of water (250 ml); boil for 5 minutes, let it cool until it is warm and then place compresses on the varicose areas; the treatment is applied several times a day and it an be associated with the wild chestnut one.

Dandelion

An infusion from two teaspoons of the whole plant (leaves, root stalk, root), dried and shredded over which pour a cup (200 ml) of boiling water. Cover and leave for 20 minutes, filter an then drink 2-3 cups a day after the main meals.

Geranium

A decoct from 3-4 finely chopped plants placed in half a liter of water; boil while covered for 10 minutes; let it cool until it is warm; wash the varicosities thoroughly with the obtained solution (broth) and then place the boiled plants on the troubled area and bandage.

Sage

An infusion from a teaspoon of ground dried leaves (powder) over which pour 100 ml of boiling water; cover for 10-15 minutes, filter and then drink two cups a day.

Yellow Sweet Clover

An infusion from a teaspoon of dried shredded flowers over which pour a cup (200 ml) of boiling water; cover for 15-20 minutes, filter and then drink one-two cups a day.

Nettle

An infusion from a teaspoon of dried shredded leaves over which pour a cup (200 ml) of boiling water; cover for 15-20 minutes, filter and then drink two-three cups a day; it has an adjuvant role.

The juice obtained from fresh leaves, ground and squeezed; drink 2-3 teaspoons a day; it has an adjuvant role.
