Natural remedies for the flu and colds

It is the season of colds, sneezes and sore throats. We wake up struck with these pesky diseases and we are so confused that we don't even know what pill to take first. The good and bad advices come from every direction only to confuse us even more. It is very difficult to realize by yourself what you're actually suffering from; if it's a virus or a germ; if you're allowed to take antibiotics or not; if you can take the holy aspirin or if, on the contrary, it will only worsen your condition.

For all these reasons and for many more it is recommended to treat the flu or a cold with teas and other natural remedies. They are at hand for everyone and have far less contraindication than medicines.

Natural remedies for the flu

You can suspect that you caught a flu virus when you're experiencing headaches, muscular and joint aches (without other justification), fatigue, ague and fever. These symptoms appear suddenly and they have a very wide scope, causing a very powerful reaction for the organism.

The flu, contrary to its labeling as a "simple cold", can have disastrous effects and it is recommended to visit a doctor. Still, the following recipe may also be very helpful.

Recipe 1

You can prepare a treatment that would include the following: willow bark, stone moss, rose hips, primroses, calendulas and lime and elder flowers. All these plants can be bought at a pharmacy that sells fresh/dried plants. Boil together in 200-300 ml water, let it cool and gargle 3 times a day with the resulting solution.

Recipe 2

Prepare a treatment from birthwort and milfoil. Boil the 2 plant together in 200-300 ml water, let it cool and then gargle with the solution 3 times a day.

Recipe 3

White underbrush fruits, ribwort leaves, hollyhock flowers, mullen flowers. Boil the plants together in 200-300 ml water, let it cool and gargle 3 times a day.

Recipe 4

Pine oil inhalations or pine oil as drops (no more than 6 drops/day)

Natural remedies for a cold

The cold is a respiratory disease of a smaller scale. The viruses that determine the cold are weaker, more gentle and determine less painful manifestations from the organism, that no longer has to fight against a powerful enemy: the fever is not very high, the cough is more gentle, the throat is lightly sore, a nasal congestion, and the general state is of fatigue and weakness.

Recipe 1

You can prepare teas from cinnamon, elder flowers, brotherwort, basil, rose hips. You can sweeten them with a teaspoon of honey instead of sugar and drink them warm.

Recipe 2

You can prepare a remedy using the following ingredients: rose hips, oxlip flowers and juniper. Boil them together in 200-300 ml water, let it cool down and then gargle 3 times a day with the resulting solution.

Recipe 3

In order to escape that obnoxious cough, you can prepare teas against it using the following plants: ribwort, nettle, linden, onion, thyme, pine tree buds. You can add a teaspoon of sugar to sweeten the tea.

Recipe 4 - Propolis tincture

The propolis tincture can be bought from a pharmacy or prepared at home: 30 g propolis for 100 ml alcohol. Pour 20-30 drops in your tea and drink a cup of tea 3 times a day.

It will ease the cough and the inflammation and the propolis tincture is well known for its antibiotic properties.
