Lettuce

Green salad (lettuce) is present almost all year rpund, because it can be grown in greenhouses, but it is one of the first vegetables that appear in spring and which, by its content, can replace a heavy diet or the lack of vitamins.

Its scientific name is Lactuca sativa, the lettuce stimulates appetite, reinvigorates and cleanse the body of the accumulated toxins. It also contributes to fighting against the deficit of hemoglobin and mineral salts from the body.

Lettuce is rich in mineral salts

Besides the carbohydrates (sugars), the salad contains many mineral salts, essential for the metabolism: salts of calcium, phosphorus, iodine, iron, copper, arsenic, and vitamin C, A, B, D and E. Besides these substances, the lettuce contains estrogen hormones, which have the effect of reducing sexual arousal. Because its high content of vitamin C, lettuce increases the resistance to infection and virus and fights anemia.

Lettuce has a special role in regulating the digestion and intestinal transit, having great effects for those who suffer from constipation, as a laxative.

Lettuce is a good hypoglycemic, drainage the liver, is a good diuretic, with indications for lithiasis and edema, sustaining a normal menstrual cycle. Salad is also indicated for disorders of the heart area, such as tachycardia and extra systoles, cardiac neuroses.

Because of some hormonal substances, lettuce is sedative - consumed in the evening it helps in reducing daily stress - and, moreover, has the capacity to induce physiological sleep.

Therapeutic recommendations of lettuce

In the form of infusion, salad has an anti spastic effect, is diuretic and sedative. Drinking the infusion in the evening ensures a good night sleep.

After washing them, boil two salads with one liter of water for 20 minutes and you obtain a solution for external use.

Thus, the resulted liquid can be used as compresses on the face (to fight acne) or other body parts, such as areas affected by psoriasis, cleaning the skin. Compresses should be at room temperature and keep for 10 minutes (applied for 3 times).

Compresses have, also, the role of toning the facial skin. Because of this, the liquid resulting from boiling the lettuce can be used as masks, especially in cases of Couperose and dry skin.
